Great Travelers Breakfast Places in Miami

To start your mornings the right way, you need the right breakfast! Luckily for you as someone who has been to Miami numerous times, I know the best haunts. So pick one of these locations depending on which area you choose as your base for 3 days in Miami.

South Beach

A great place for a serious explorer breakfast in South Beach is the Bacon Bitch (obviously), or go to Havana 1957 for a delicious Cuban sandwich and strong, sweet coffee.

Mid Beach

In Mid Beach, try out the Crema Gourmet Expresso bar for great coffee, a power smoothie, or a healthy salad or sandwich to start your day.

Downtown Miami

If you wake up in downtown Miami, you can check out Café Bastille for a real French breakfast treat. Or head over to Bistro Café, which will get you everything from incredible sweet pancakes to delicious eggs and bacon. Definitely one of the top places to eat during your 3 days in Miami.

Wynwood

If Wynwood is your base, you can start your day at Mr. Cachapa (opens at 9 a.m.) or try out MIAM Café or Morgans’s restaurant; both have great reviews, a wide menu, and are open from 8 a.m.

You can totally switch things up during your 3 days in Miami. That’s the best part about having so many places to choose from. Don’t you agree?

Now that your energy is taken care of from at least three mornings let us get on to exploring!

Day 1 In Miami: Sightseeing And Street Art

There are two really good ways to get a quick overview of the city. The first one is to climb to the top deck of a hop-on-hop-off bus tour that will allow you to familiarize yourself with the various city areas and stop at places like the famous Cuban Little Havana neighborhood for cigars and a game of domino.

You might not know that the Latin community in Miami is extensive; about 54% percent of the population in the whole of Miami is of Cuban descent! So if you know a bit of Spanish, you get to practice your skills during your 3 days in Miami.

Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour

A glimpse from the top of the hop on and hop off bus which is one of the recommended activities for your 3 days in Miami itinerary.

⭐️ Rating: 4/5 (503 Reviews) Price: $43.20 per person Duration: Valid for 1 – 2 days 📍Meeting Point: You can board the hop-on hop-off bus at any stop along the route. Details: Read more on Get Your Guide Now!

The hop-on hop-off bus is a bit touristy, but you will get an easy overview of the city while you have an entertaining guide telling you fun stories on the way. One of the big perks is that it allows you to catch a glimpse of the city in a short duration of time.

Another great thing about this particular tour is that you can hop on to the bus at any stop that is along the route.

Makes it so much accessible because usually the route crisscrosses Miami in such a way that there is a stop close to where you choose your accommodation.

“The hop on, hop off bus is always a great way to see and learn about the city. The App that shows you the route and where the buses are traveling, assist you the plan your day. The App also goes into detail about the sites you will be seeing and is very easy to use.”

Alison (read more reviews now!)

The ticket is also valid for the duration of a day or two depending on what you book which means that you can explore the city at your pace. Technically the best way is to reach a stop and hop off, wander around and then hop on to the next bus that heads your way. Many people however prefer to sit on the bus for the whole journey.

Pro Tip: You can even combine the bus tour with a fun airboat ride on the Everglades and a boat tour on Biscayne Bay.

See Miami From The Sky With A Helicopter Tour

An aerial view from a helicopter tour of Miami which is one of the recommended tours during the 3 days in Miami itinerary.

Or get yourself on a helicopter tour and fly over the city, Miami Beach, and even Fort Lauderdale! I did this, and it was spectacular flying over the blue waters in a tiny glass bubble helicopter. There is so much that you can see when you fly over Miami. From the top you can spot Biscayne Bay, Coconut Grove, and Coral Gables alongside Miami’s picturesque beaches.

If you have spent time in Miami, you may even be able to identify some of the buildings. My advice would be to pick a day with good weather. This will give you a clear view below and ahead.

“Absolutely awesome helicopter ride I have ever been on definitely recommended! Worth every penny!”

Sam (read more reviews now!)

There are loads of different durations of helicopter tours that you can take. Usually its about $100 per 10 minutes that you are airborne. Most people choose anywhere between 20-30 minute tours because this gives you a chance to taste the experience and enjoy the thrill! All said and done, this is a tour that I personally recommend!

Lunch Cevice105’s Restaurant

A cuban sandwich which is cut in half and has melted cheese. Definitely a lunch you will enjoy during your 3 days in Miami.

You should head to Cevice105 at least once during your 3 days in Miami.

Once you have your feet back on solid ground, head for lunch at one of Cevice105’s restaurants, the best Peruvian kitchen in the city that has gotten rewards twelve years in a row. This restaurant has venues both in Downtown Miami and South Beach (and two other places), so you will be covered wherever you end up for lunch.

In addition to getting spectacular cevice, you can also have fish, meat, or vegetarian dishes here, created with the same love! This is definitely one of the high points for the 3 days in Miami itinerary for foodies.

Enjoy The Food And Art Scene In Wynwood Art District

A painted mural in the Wynwood art district of Miami.

For your day one afternoon, head over to Wynwood Art District, where there is an infinite number of ever-changing street art on almost any wall and building you will pass. It is something that should really be a part of your 3 days in Miami itinerary.

Just walking the streets on your own, you will experience a multitude of impressive murals. If you opt for an organized tour, you will also learn about the history of Wynwood and possibly try out the neighborhood cuisine if you choose a combined food and art tour.

Don’t miss out on a visit to Wynwood Walls Art Center, where some of the best street artists in the world have displays of their incredible pieces. At the unique Wynwood Walls, you have outdoor and indoor exhibitions, some separate exhibitions, and a variety of unique sculptures to admire.

Don’t Forget To Shop

For Wynwood shopping, find your way to Boho Hunter, one of several small eclectic shops in this neighborhood where you can find yourself an unmatched piece of fashion-statement garment or accessories!

Indulge At The Veza Sur Brewery Company

Veza Sur Brewery Wynwood

When you need a short break in your sightseeing, try out Veza Sur Brewery Company, one of the really good small breweries with a variety of tasty and locally-made brews in Miami. Or test the bigger Cerveceria La Tropical, also with hundreds of brew options as well as a tropical garden with outdoor seating and one-of-a-kind murals created by local artists.

Visit The Museum Of Graffiti And The Margulies Collection

⭐️ Rating: 4.5/5 (16 Reviews) Price: $16 per person Duration: 45 min to 1 hour 📍Meeting Point: Museum of Graffiti Details: Read more on Viator!

Next, the Museum of Graffiti and the Margulies Collection at the Warehouse nearby in Wynwood will keep feeding your cultural mind this first day in Miami.

The Margulies Collection at the Warehouse is home to a vast collection of vintage and contemporary photography art over a vast 50,000 square feet of space from the renowned collector Martin Z. Margulies. If you have the slightest interest in photography, paintings, and sculpture, you will love a visit here!

Pro Tip: Book your entrance ticket to the Museum of Graffiti in advance.

Enjoy The Miami Nightlife

Bar Noche Miami Beach

You may or may not need a breather at your hotel now before you head out for your Miami evening, and I have suggestions.

Starting off your evening at the Copal Rooftop bar in Wynwood is perfect for views of Biscayne Bay. The Miami Beach skyline, combined with a sunset-worthy cocktail, will get you in a zen mood for the night until you get hungry!

From there, it is only a short six-minute walk to top-rated WAYKU Wynwood Restaurant, which will serve you anything from salmon to rib steak or a casual burger in elegant surroundings.

If you are up for it, you can continue your night at The Dirty Rabbit nightclub in Wynood, which has colorful events for the daring. Go here any time after 8 p.m. and stay open until 3 in the morning if you wish!

Day 2 in Miami: Boat Tour And Cultural Immersion

The second day of this 3 days in Miami is all about cultural immersions and yes… Before you ask, I’m going to squeeze in a boat tour because one cannot leave without exploring the coast. Weather permitting of course!

Bayside Marketplace

After breakfast, start your day at the shores of Bayside Marketplace, where there are lots of great, more mainstream shopping, as well as an outdoor market and a Ferris wheel!

Boat Tour Of Biscayne Bay

Millionaire Row Yacht

From Bayside Marketplace, you can also head out for an invigorating or relaxing boat tour of Biscayne Bay, which is exactly what I suggest. It is really something that should be a part of your 3 days in Miami itinerary.

There are a variety of boat trip options. You can book a private tour for your group, a tour that includes snorkeling, or a slow cruise where you just sit back and enjoy the views and see the islands and mansions scattered around Biscayne Bay.

Some tours have regular departures throughout the day; others have morning departures for a full-day experience or afternoon departures for a sunset tour of Biscayne Bay and the Miami Skyline (which I also recommend). Definitely something that should be a part of your 3 days in Miami itinerary.

Lunch At Verde

Once you are back on the mainland, take your lunch at Verde, a laid-back restaurant with stunning views of Biscayne Bay and a large outside seating area. The Verde is conveniently located in the Perez Art Museum, so you can make your visit to the museum either before or after lunch! You can’t think of a better place to catch lunch during your 3 days in Miami itinerary!

Indulge Your Curiosity At The Museums Of Miami

This is the hard part because choosing the right museum depends on personal preference. There are a variety of museums to visit in the vicinity of the Downtown and Brickell Miami area. Here are the most popular ones that deserve to be on your 3 days in Miami itinerary and you can take your pick depending on what picks your fancy.

  • Institute of Contemporary Art Miami Design District
  • History Miami Museum
  • Philip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science
  • Superblue Miami (behind Wynwood)
  • Vizcaya Museum & Gardens is close to Brickell, a stunning historic estate

That said, if you want to take a completely different approach to your day two afternoon, let me suggest this alternative with hands-on, interactive sights and activities.

Over at Virginia Key is the Miami Seaquarium, and you don’t need to be a kid to enjoy quite some time here!

If you like marine life, you will love this aquatic zoo, which is also a rescue and rehabilitation center, as well as conservation and care. And in the middle of it all, you can interact with several of the inhabitants and even “dive” with them in a clever, easy way! You can see why this is one of the best places to spend some time during your 3 days in Miami.

Walk Through Coral Gables

A little south of Downtown Miami, in Coral Gables, one of the most astounding tropical gardens in the country. Situated south of Miami along the coast, the Fairchild Tropical Bonatic Garden spreads over 83 full acres, a perfect destination for hobby botanists or anyone who enjoys beautiful tranquil gardens.

Lastly, you get warm and fuzzy thinking about meeting koalas, Asian tigers, and even jaguars, Zoo Miami is just 25 minutes away from the Botanic Garden. A great destination for kids of all ages, rent a safari bike to get around or join one of the activities in the zoo! Definitely a place that you should not miss during your 3 days in Miami.

Try Out Miami’s Rooftop Bars

As you head into your second evening, try out the rooftop bars at either Area 31 at Kimpton EPIC Hotel in Downtown Miami or the Rosa Sky in Brickell to set your mood for the night with incredible views!

For a laid-back dinner atmosphere, you might like Moxies Miami Restaurant in Brickell, with a variety of steaks, pasta, and a vegan menu. A more luxurious dining option in Downtown Miami is Bagatelle Miami, which will feed you little pieces of edible art in an elegant atmosphere.

Finally, if you have more energy, have a quiet nightcap at The Corner bar or go clubbing into the morning at E11even, which closes at 5 a.m. (but don’t forget you have one more day!). You can see why people

Day 3 Miami: Enjoy Miami Beach In One Day

Day three is the perfect beach day to wind down in your 3 days in Miami itinerary, so why not start your day in the brilliant South Beach?

The easiest way to get to Miami Beach is with an Uber. If you are sporty, there are bike lanes all the way from the mainland, so you can rent a bike for the day to get you around. And if you use your own car, you probably want to get here early to avoid parking issues.

There are parking garages like the Time Out Market Parking on South Beach, around three blocks from the beach. Or download the apps ParkMe and Parkmobile, which will help you locate available parking and pay for parking online.

You may also be able to use the free trolley; download the Trolley app and the Miami Beach Trolley app for an overview!

Catch The Art Deco Architecture

Start the day with the most famous features of South Beach: the Art Deco architecture that defines the blocks from 5th Street to 23rd Street, along Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue, and Washington Avenue.

If you want a bit of history to your walk, opt for a self-guided walk that you can get from the Art Deco welcome center by Lummus Park. You can easily download the app called “GPSmyCity: Walks in 1K+ Cities” from either the App Store or Google Play! You can see why it is such a cool place to spend some time during your 3 days in Miami.

Or get a guided art deco walking tour focusing on the architecture or even a combination of art and food tour. 90-minute guided walking tours start daily at 10:30 a.m. from the welcome center.

Work Up An Appetite At Muscle Beach

Workout on Muscle Beach Miami Beach

If you want to check off doing a once-in-a-lifetime workout at the famous Muscle Beach (or just watch others sweat), you find this little gym in the park just outside 9th Street and Ocean Drive.  It is a pretty epic sight so make sure to add it to your 3 days in Miami itinerary.

Indulge In Lunch

Taco on Miami Food Tour

There are a myriad of lunch options on South Beach. If you are ready for a steak lunch, you can make your way to the south tip of Miami Beach to the Smith & Wollensky in South Point Park.

In South Point Park, there are always lots of people and life; enjoy the ambiance and watch all the large cruisers pass by heading to port in Miami from here.

For a lighter, more laid-back lunch option, try tasty Mexican cuisine at the award-winning Naked Taco by Lummus Park! This is one lunch during your 3 days in Miami that you will definitely not forget.

Visit A Couple Of Museums

On South Beach, you also find The Bass Museum of Art and the Jewish Museum of Florida, telling the everyday life history of Jews in the Sunshine State through an interesting collection of old photographs, memorabilia, and artifacts.

Catch Some Sun And A Sunset!

In the late afternoon, you might be ready to hang out on the beach for a couple of hours when the sun is not too strong. Remember to pack sunscreen and swimwear, rent a beach chair and umbrella on the beach, or bring your own towel and just find your own spot completely for free.

For a glamorous sunset experience on South Beach, just stay on your towel until the sun sets, or head over to Nikki Beach Club for a leisurely or bubbly time. After all, most people would want to cram as much beach time as they can during their 3 days in Miami.

Take In The Breathtaking Views At A Rooftop Terrace

Now you could also just go home and change before you head to your last evening at one of the most spectacular rooftop terraces in Miami, the Watr on the 1 Rooftop at 1 Hotel South Beach! It is just another alternative to your 3 days in Miami itinerary.

This rooftop oasis opens to the public at 6 p.m., and in addition to unsurpassed ocean views, it has a rooftop pool and a Peruvian-influenced Japanese menu. The rooftop slowly transforms into an outdoor club atmosphere while still offering relaxed lounge seating, the perfect place to end your trip to Miami!

When Is The Best Time To Visit Miami?

Miami is a great destination any time of year, although you must expect some rain showers in the afternoons during the wet season, which normally runs from June through October. This is something that you should consider if you are intending of spending your 3 days in Miami during this time of the year.

November through April is the dry season, with sun, fair winds, and friendly temperatures. This is a perfect period to explore all the good things you will find in the South of the Sunshine State of Florida!

In this article, I have included a little bit more than you probably have time for to make sure there is some wiggle room for various interests and personal preferences. This way you can customize your 3 days in Miami itinerary according to your likes.

I hope you have found a solid foundation to plan your 3 days in Miami trip, whether you will follow the itinerary to a tee or use it as inspiration to create your own.

If you have decided that 3 days in Miami is a little short, I get it; there are a plethora of things to do in Miami that do not fit into a three-day Miami itinerary. No matter how long time you can spend in the city of lights, I am confident you will have a wonderful time!
